Eney

Eney is a personal AI agent from MacPaw, the maker of CleanMyMac and Setapp. It lives on your Mac as a small window and on your iPhone as a companion app. You tell it what you need in plain words, and it breaks the job into steps across your files and apps: it drafts and sends email, adds calendar events, edits and converts documents, tidies Downloads, turns meetings into notes and works with connected services such as Gmail, Slack and Notion. It also suggests next steps on its own and runs scheduled workflows such as a morning brief. Eney launched for Mac and iPhone in October 2026 after a public beta. It needs an M-series Mac and an AI credits subscription through Setapp after a 14-day trial. This profile is based on official pages, not hands-on testing.

How it runs
Native Mac app: device actions such as reading files, running commands and searching your data run locally through Eney's built-in tools. Answers come from cloud AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google), with the results of those tools sent along when needed; MacPaw says Eney does not currently use a local model to answer requests
What it can do
turns one request into multi-step work across your Mac and connected apps: drafts and sends email, adds calendar events, finds, edits and converts files and PDFs, tidies Desktop and Downloads, records and transcribes meetings into notes, generates and edits images, trims video, searches the web; proactive suggestions, ready-made and scheduled workflows such as a morning brief or weekly review; Eney Wand works on content where it appears on screen
Asks before acting
Accesses your apps and files only with your permission; permissions can be changed in Settings. Proactive suggestions are on by default and can be turned off. MacPaw does not say whether Eney confirms before sending, posting or deleting content in connected services
Training on your data
Training on Eney data is switched off in MacPaw's accounts with its AI providers; providers may keep requests and outputs for a limited time (OpenAI and Google up to 30 days). Usage data is not used to train third-party models
Model
Mac: OpenAI GPT in Fast mode, Anthropic Claude in More thorough mode; iOS: Anthropic Claude; Google for image generation

“Not stated” means the maker’s pages don’t say — not that the feature is missing.

FAQ

How much does Eney cost?

Eney is free to download and comes with a 14-day trial that includes 10,000 AI credits; the trial ends early if you use up the credits. After that you need an AI credits subscription: Starter is $14.99 a month for 10,000 credits, Boost $29.99 for 20,000 and Power $49.99 for 30,000. Unused credits do not roll over. Billing runs through Setapp by MacPaw, and a Setapp membership also works.

What can Eney do?

MacPaw's examples include drafting and sending email, adding calendar events, finding, editing and converting files and PDFs, sorting Desktop and Downloads, transcribing calls into notes and action items, generating and editing images and trimming video. One instruction can turn into several actions. Ready-made workflows cover a morning brief, a weekly review and a news digest, and you can schedule them. Eney Wand works on text, images and files where they appear on your screen.

Which apps does Eney connect to?

Eney works with Mac apps such as Mail, Calendar and Reminders, and its privacy notice lists connected services including Google Calendar, Drive and Gmail, Slack, Notion, Linear, Jira, Confluence, Figma, Dropbox and Canva. Depending on the service, Eney can read, create, edit, delete or send content there for you, such as posting a Slack message or deleting a Drive file.

Does Eney run on my Mac or in the cloud?

Both. Actions on your device, such as reading files, running commands and searching your data, happen locally through Eney's built-in tools. Answers come from cloud AI providers: on the Mac, OpenAI in Fast mode and Anthropic Claude in More thorough mode; on iPhone, Claude. MacPaw's privacy notice says Eney does not currently use a local model to answer requests.

Does Eney train AI on my data?

MacPaw says training is switched off in its accounts with its AI providers, though providers may keep requests for a limited time, up to 30 days for OpenAI and Google. Memories are stored on your device. Deleting a chat removes it from your devices and hides it; it is permanently deleted from MacPaw's servers when you ask for your data to be deleted.

Does Eney ask before it acts?

Eney only accesses your apps and files with your permission, and you can change those permissions in Settings. Proactive suggestions are on by default and can be turned off. MacPaw does not say whether Eney asks you to confirm before it sends, posts or deletes something in a connected service.
