What it does

GLM-Legal (API model code glm-5.3-flashx-legal) is Z.ai's legal-domain model. It is built on the 320B-parameter GLM-5.3-Flash (18B active) with extra legal mid-training and reinforcement learning across tens of thousands of simulated legal tasks, so it can review contracts, connect evidence to a case theory and plan compliance work as an agent. Z.ai reports a 19.2% all-pass rate on the Harvey legal agent benchmark across 24 practice areas. It runs through Z.ai's API with a 1M-token context and is in beta: Z.ai invites law firms, legal tech companies and in-house teams to apply for access.

Features

  • Contract review. Given a contract and the client's goal, it proposes specific clause changes, such as shorter termination notice, immediate exit after serious breaches and a transition-assistance period, instead of general advice. Official source 1 ↗
  • Evidence analysis with citations. It reads a set of case documents, pairs external statements with conflicting internal records, cites the source documents by ID and keeps facts and inferences apart. Official source 1 ↗
  • Cross-border compliance checklists. For a launch in several countries it breaks privacy rules into prioritised steps with statutory references for each market. Official source 1 ↗
  • Chinese legal practice. Z.ai reports parity with leading frontier models on PLawBench, a benchmark of Chinese legal consultation, case analysis and document drafting. Official source 1 ↗
  • Long documents, fast output. It inherits the GLM-5.3-FlashX setup: a 1M-token context window and output speeds of up to 200 tokens per second. Official source 1 ↗
