What it does
siliXon is a browser-based, beta circuit-board design tool: you describe the electronics you want in plain English, its assistant Rocky asks clarifying questions, and the system picks real parts, places them, draws the schematic and routes a 2- or 4-layer PCB that you can edit in 2D or 3D and export for manufacturing.
Official source 1 ↗Features
- Plain-English board brief. Start from a sentence such as a garden soil sensor; experienced users can name exact components, communication protocols and board size for a tighter result. Official source 1 ↗
- Rocky clarifying assistant. Rocky chats through the design, asking questions and offering choices so you can settle what the electronics should do. Official source 1 ↗
- Automatic placement, schematic and routing. The system chooses components, places them, draws the schematic and routes the board. Official source 1 ↗
- Edit in 2D and 3D or by chat. Generated boards stay editable: move parts, draw or remove traces, add vias, or ask Rocky for changes. Rocky v1.5 can inspect the layout image and a layout report for alignment edits. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
- Engineering checks before manufacture. Boards must pass siliXon's physics and manufacturing checks, and every component is a part that exists on the market. Official source 1 ↗
- Manufacturing files you own. You keep ownership of designs and get the files needed to manufacture the board; Pro adds KiCad import and export. Official source 1 ↗
- Community boards to remix. Published boards can be copied by other signed-in users under the CERN Open Hardware Licence v2 Permissive, with a credit to the original designer. Official source 1 ↗
Pricing & free limits
One end-to-end project every two weeks, limited Community access with two remixes, public projects only. No card needed. Official source 1 ↗
Unlimited projects, Community access, unlimited remixes, private PCBs, KiCad import and export. Silkscreen image upload is listed as coming soon. Official source 1 ↗
Billing details
Pro is billed monthly and can be cancelled anytime. Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Official source 1 ↗
Free access & limits
The Free plan allows one end-to-end project every two weeks, and its new projects are published to Community once they pass every manufacturing check; only Pro can keep a project private. Official source 1 ↗
Best for & limitations
A beginner with an idea but no electronics knowledge describing a device and getting a checked, manufacturable board. Official source 1 ↗
A hobbyist starting from an idea, adjusting the design and learning along the way. Official source 1 ↗
An engineer iterating quickly on a board with specified parts and protocols to avoid repeat manufacturing runs. Official source 1 ↗
- Early beta. The service is a beta: features may change or stop, availability and saved data are not guaranteed, and usage limits may apply. Official source 1 ↗
- 2- and 4-layer, mostly digital boards. Boards are limited to 2 or 4 layers, and analogue circuit capability is limited. Official source 1 ↗
- Check boards before you build them. Passing its checks does not mean a board works or is safe; siliXon accepts no responsibility for non-working boards, and safety, EMC and regulatory validation stays with you. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
- Free designs are public. Free-plan boards are published to Community and can be copied, changed and sold by others under an open hardware licence; copies made before you go private stay with them. Official source 1 ↗
- Session recordings. Product analytics through PostHog include session recordings that may capture ordinary non-password form values. Official source 1 ↗
