What it does

WeWeb is a visual web-app builder that combines an AI assistant with a drag-and-drop editor. You describe an app and WeWeb AI, or an external agent connected through the WeWeb MCP Server, generates interfaces, databases, APIs and frontend logic, which you then refine visually. Apps can be published on WeWeb Cloud or exported as code and self-hosted.

Features

  • AI generation with visual editing. WeWeb AI generates pages, logic and designs from text prompts or image references. You can switch to the visual editor for small changes to save AI tokens, and import Figma designs as a starting point. Official source 1 ↗
  • MCP Server for external agents. MCP-compatible agents can create and edit pages, components, workflows, API requests, database resources, auth, storage and integrations in a WeWeb project. They run on your own AI account, so they do not use WeWeb AI tokens, and you can limit an agent to one page, workflow or database. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Native backend. A built-in backend on PostgreSQL provides tables with relational links, instant CRUD APIs, server-side workflows triggered by app events or schedules, and file storage with public and private files separated. Official source 1 ↗
  • External data sources. The frontend can also connect to external backends such as Supabase, Xano, Airtable, Google Sheets or any REST API; the native backend is an addition, not a replacement. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Authentication and roles. WeWeb Auth provides signup, login, password reset and email verification, or you can use Supabase Auth, Auth0, OpenID Connect, Xano Auth or custom auth. Access to views, APIs and pages can be public, authenticated or role-based. Official source 1 ↗
  • Visual workflows with optional code. Frontend logic is built from visual workflows that can be debugged step by step, and extended with custom JavaScript or imported custom-coded components. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Code export and self-hosting. On Essential and above, you can export the app's front-end and backend code (a Vue.js single-page app on the front end), sync it with GitHub and deploy it on your own infrastructure with no WeWeb hosting fees. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗

Billing details

Annual billing saves up to 20% compared with monthly, and regional pricing is offered in some countries; there are no startup, student or nonprofit discounts. Seats are only needed for people who build in the editor, and there is no charge per app user. Official source 1 ↗

Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated; downgrades and cancellations apply at the end of the billing period. Unused time is not refunded, though individual (non-business) buyers can withdraw within 14 days. Data is kept for 90 days after a subscription ends (30 days for Free accounts). Official source 1 ↗

AI tokens reset monthly and do not roll over. AI used inside your published app through WeWeb's AI Gateway is billed separately at cost after a free $1 credit per workspace, with an optional monthly spending cap. Official source 1 ↗

Free access & limits

The Free plan replaces a trial: apps go live on a WeWeb subdomain with up to 1,000 sessions in total, and limits are hard, so an app may become unavailable until moved to a paid tier. The WeWeb MCP Server is a 14-day trial on Free and Essential. Official source 1 ↗

Best for & limitations

Build SaaS products, directories, forms, customer portals and business process tools, or prototype an MVP. Official source 1 ↗

Build a custom frontend on an existing Supabase, Xano or other backend and host it on your own domain with the Front-end only hosting tier. Official source 1 ↗

Turn a product brief or PRD into an editable app by connecting a coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor through the WeWeb MCP Server. Official source 1 ↗

  • Self-hosted export gaps. Exports include code and table structure but not table records or uploaded files. WeWeb's AI Gateway and built-in email sending cannot be used in a self-hosted app, and WeWeb does not provide support, fixes or updates for self-hosted apps. Official source 1 ↗
  • Data region is fixed. A project's backend region (United States, Europe or Asia-Pacific) is chosen at setup and cannot be changed later. Official source 1 ↗
  • Team collaboration requires Pro. Several people working on the same project requires Pro, Partner or Enterprise. Official source 1 ↗
