What it does

Freebuff is a coding agent that is free to use and funded by advertising. It runs as a desktop app, a mobile app, a terminal CLI and a web app, with conversation threads stored in the cloud so a task started on one device can be continued on another.

Features

  • Agent that runs and edits code. The agent reads files, edits code and runs commands such as tests in your project, then explains the change it made. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Threads that follow you across devices. Conversation threads are stored in the cloud, so you can start a task on the desktop, check it from your phone and finish it in the browser. Official source 1 ↗
  • Tool integrations. You can connect services such as GitHub, Linear, Notion, Stripe, Vercel, Supabase and Sentry, and the agent uses them while it works. Official source 1 ↗
  • Review and reply from mobile. From the phone app you can start a task, review what changed and reply to the agent. Official source 1 ↗

Billing details

Freebuff is paid for by advertising rather than a subscription. Ads may be personalised using your prompts and a profile of your projects, such as the languages, frameworks and tools they use. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗

Free access & limits

Free access is limited to one account per person. Freebuff may require phone verification, and in some cases an ID and selfie check, before an account can keep using free features. Official source 1 ↗

Best for & limitations

Fix a flaky test: the agent repeats the test run, finds the timing problem in a helper, edits it and reruns until every run passes. Official source 1 ↗

Add a small feature such as a dark-mode toggle, then let the agent open a pull request for your review. Official source 1 ↗

  • Agents have your account's access. Desktop and CLI agents run with your device account's permissions and can reach files outside the project; Freebuff says it cannot guarantee what an agent will access and recommends running agents in an isolated environment. Official source 1 ↗
  • No iOS app yet. The mobile app is available on Android only; iOS is listed as coming soon. Official source 1 ↗
