What it does

Retriever AI (rtrvr.ai) is an AI browser agent that runs as a Chrome extension on the sites you are signed into, or in cloud browsers, to carry out web tasks such as pulling page data into spreadsheets, enriching lead lists, filling forms and posting to social channels, and returns the finished result. The same agent is available through an API, an MCP server and a command-line tool.

Features

  • Browser agent in Chrome. Describe an outcome on the page you have open, such as pulling every listing into a sheet, and the agent works across pages while you keep using other tabs. Official source 1 ↗
  • Cloud browsers on a schedule. Runs can move to managed cloud browsers that keep working after you leave, with schedules, triggers and webhooks on paid plans; cookie sync lets the cloud use sessions you choose to share from Chrome. Official source 1 ↗
  • Agent, Scrape and Browser APIs. The Agent API plans and completes a browser job, the Scrape API returns page text, structure and links for your own pipeline, and the Browser API exposes your signed-in Chrome to a backend or MCP client. Official source 1 ↗
  • MCP for Claude, Codex and Slack. An MCP connection gives Claude, Codex or a Slack bot the ability to run web tasks, and OAuth-aware clients can sign in with Google instead of pasting an API key. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Command-line tool. The rtrvr CLI, installed from npm, calls every endpoint from a terminal. Official source 1 ↗
  • Bring your own model. Tasks can run on a ChatGPT or Claude plan, an API key or a compatible local model, in which case rtrvr does not charge model credits. Official source 1 ↗
  • Data enrichment. Enrichment returns records at 0.25 credits each, and live scraping costs 0.15 credits per successful record, with misses free. Official source 1 ↗

Free access & limits

Free Mode applies only to interactive tasks started in the extension or cloud dashboard and is limited by a daily fair-use allowance that resets; API and WhatsApp runs use credits. Official source 1 ↗

Schedules, triggers, cookie sync and Chrome control through the API or MCP need a paid plan. Official source 1 ↗

Best for & limitations

Building a lead list from an event page, enriching attendees and sending outreach. Official source 1 ↗

Turning listings or search results on a website into a spreadsheet with sources kept. Official source 1 ↗

Giving a chat assistant or backend the ability to read and act on websites through the API or MCP. Official source 1 ↗

  • Free plan is ad-supported. Every free-plan task shows sponsored cards from advertising partners matched to the task, even when you use your own API key; ad-free runs need a paid plan. Official source 1 ↗
  • Task data leaves your browser. Task instructions, page content and connected files may be processed by the services a task needs, depending on the model, tools and mode; the company says a promise that nothing leaves the browser would be misleading. Official source 1 ↗
  • Broad content licence. The terms grant RTRVR AI a licence to process customer content to operate and improve the services and to develop new products; zero-retention Private Mode is only on Team and Scale. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • You answer for automated actions. You must have permission to automate the sites and accounts you point it at, and should check actions before allowing submissions, messages or purchases. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Business users aged 18+. The service is designed mainly for professional and business use by adults. Official source 1 ↗
