What it does

fastbrowse is an open-source browser agent for developers and AI coding agents, under the MIT licence, from Agent Labs, Inc. You give it a task and a starting page. It drives a real Chrome browser, choosing each action from a list of the page's controls. It returns an answer that quotes the page text, or structured data checked against your schema. You can run it yourself from the command line, Python, JavaScript or MCP, or use fastbrowse hosted, a paid API service that runs the browsers for you.

Features

  • Cited answers and checked data. Factual answers quote text copied from the page. fastbrowse checks those quotes and the task requirements before it marks a run complete. Structured output is validated against your schema before your code reads it. Official source 1 ↗
  • Actions from indexed controls. A model called Jev picks each action and its target from a list of the controls on the page, while a separate LLM plans the task and reads longer passages. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Secrets kept out of prompts. A login is passed by name and typed only on its allowed website, so the model never sees the value. It can also fill logins from an unlocked Bitwarden CLI, including one-time codes, or reuse a signed-in browser profile. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Approval before irreversible actions. Paying, sending, submitting and deleting stop for your approval unless you start the run with authorize. fastbrowse notes that its classifier can miss an irreversible action. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Choice of browser. Run local Chrome, a Browser Use Cloud browser that you can watch live, or the hosted browser pool. It can also attach to a browser or Electron window that is already open. Official source 1 ↗
  • Steps and cost per run. Each result lists its steps, model calls and cost. In Python or JavaScript you can set a dollar limit per task. Official source 1 ↗
  • Hosted API. fastbrowse hosted takes one POST request per task and runs it in a sandboxed Chrome that is destroyed after the run. A test key runs a free simulator with the same response shapes, for use in CI. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗ · Official source 3 ↗

Billing details

Each hosted run costs a per-run fee plus usage, at least $0.005. The monthly allowance is spent first, then prepaid top-ups. Allowances don't roll over; top-ups don't expire. Official source 1 ↗

Runs are charged for the agent's work even when they end unverified, blocked or stopped at a login. Platform errors, provider outages, cancelled or expired runs and test-key runs are not charged. Official source 1 ↗

When the balance runs out, the API refuses new runs instead of running up a bill. Official source 1 ↗

Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe, and prices exclude taxes. Official source 1 ↗

Running the open-source version yourself means paying your own model provider, and a Browser Use key if you use its cloud browser. Official source 1 ↗

Free access & limits

Hosted Free plan: $2.00 of runs a month (at most 400 runs), capped at 500 runs including top-ups, 1 run at a time and 7 days of history. Official source 1 ↗

  • Built for developers. Using fastbrowse means command-line tools, SDKs or an API, plus your own model and browser keys when you self-host. The pages checked show no point-and-click interface for building tasks. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Approval checks can miss actions. fastbrowse says its classifier for irreversible actions can miss one, and runs started with authorize skip the approval step. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗
  • Failed runs can still cost money. Hosted runs that end unverified, blocked by a bot check or stopped at a login wall are still charged. Official source 1 ↗
  • Some features are still coming. The credential management UI and vault import for the hosted console are listed as coming soon. Official source 1 ↗
  • Terms. Self-serve hosted plans carry no service level agreement, and run output may be inaccurate. The terms forbid using it to evade a website's access controls, and they are governed by California law. Official source 1 ↗
