What it does

Meshy, from Meshy LLC, is an AI 3D model generator that turns text prompts, photos or sketches into 3D models in about a minute, with AI texturing, auto-rigging and animation, and exports for game engines and 3D printers. It also offers a chat-based 3D Agent (beta), an API and an MCP server for coding agents. In November 2026 it released Meshy N1, a native texturing model, and it runs a free-to-try 3D relief generator for printable bas-reliefs.

Features

  • Text and image to 3D. Generates a 3D model from a prompt, photo, sketch or concept art in under a minute, with a Low Poly mode for real-time use. Official source 1 ↗
  • Meshy N1 native texturing. A texturing model that paints color directly in 3D instead of projecting 2D views, which Meshy says cuts seams and doubled edges; its own benchmark puts median texturing time at 14 seconds. Official source 1 ↗
  • 3D relief generator. Turns a photo into a low or high bas-relief using estimated depth, with an Engrave mode for molds, and exports STL, OBJ, GLB or 3MF for printing, CNC or laser work. Official source 1 ↗
  • PBR texturing. Generates a full PBR set (albedo, normal, metallic, roughness) for a model. Official source 1 ↗
  • Rigging and animation. Auto-rigs humanoid and quadruped characters and applies 600+ motion presets. Official source 1 ↗
  • Print-ready output. Models come out watertight and manifold, a printability check auto-repairs edge cases, and files go straight to slicers for single- or multi-color printing. Official source 1 ↗
  • 3D Agent and MCP server. A chat-based 3D Agent (beta) turns ideas, photos or sketches into downloadable models, and the MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor or Codex generate 3D. Official source 1 ↗ · Official source 2 ↗

Best for & limitations

A game developer generates props and characters, rigs and animates them, and drops them into Unity, Unreal or Godot. Official source 1 ↗

  • N1 limits. Meshy N1 outputs only 2K base color textures, and multi-view texturing needs a paid plan. Official source 1 ↗
  • Vendor-run benchmark. The texture cleanliness numbers for N1 come from a benchmark Meshy built itself. Official source 1 ↗
  • Sign-in needed for uploads. The relief generator needs an account to upload your own image; only the examples are free. Official source 1 ↗
  • Free outputs need attribution. Free-plan models are CC BY 4.0, so commercial use requires credit. Official source 1 ↗
